Welcome to DottzGaming.com’s Magicka Warden DPS PvE build, the Shaman, for the Elder Scrolls Online! This build is intended for PvE content of all kinds: trials, vet maelstrom arena, dungeons and solo adventuring!
While I originally created a purely frost themed PvE build, I came up with something else while playing it that I thought would be equally as fun but a bit more effective. This build focuses on being the master of the elements, utilizing nature, frost, fire and lightning to each of their individual strengths to deal damage. While this isn’t your stereotypical “end-game meta” magicka warden, it’s still very effective and is veteran trials viable. This build is also extremely easy to use and has a very basic rotation since a lot of our skills are focused around giving us passive damage boosts, so it is very new player friendly.

Note: No beginner setup listed since the gear above is overall easy to acquire. If you do not have a Maelstrom staff though, simply use a Willpower staff back bar or another Mother’s Sorrow staff.
Valkyn Skoria: Great damage proc that allows us to stay at a range. The one piece line of health also allows us to run flat magicka enchants on all of our gear.
Necropotence: One of the best sets for any build that runs pets. This set gives us an absolutely massive boost to our maximum magicka as long as we have a pet active, and we have two with the Blue Betty and the Bear.
Mother’s Sorrow: Staple magicka damage dealer front bar set. This set gives us a boatload of crit, allowing our attacks to get that critical modifier more consistently. This also scales really well in a trials environment when more instances of the Force buff are present.
All points into Magicka.
Main Bar – Flame Staff: Screaming Cliff Racer, Fetcher Infection, Deep Fissure, Bird of Prey, Soul Splitting Trap, Eternal Guardian
Back Bar – Flame Staff: Winter’s Revenge, Unstable Wall of Elements, Harness Magicka, Channeled Acceleration, Degeneration, Eternal Guardian
- If you don’t have Summerset, feel free to substitute Barbed Trap in for Channeled Acceleration.
- If you want to do solo overland content or veteran maelstrom arena, remove Channeled Acceleration / Barbed Trap and replace it with Living Trellis. If you feel you still need more survivability, you can also replace Bird of Prey with Ice Fortress.
Vampire vs. Werewolf vs. Mortal
For this build I recommend playing a vampire. I feel that when playing a magicka warden in PvE, the benefits from having vampirism outweigh the negatives. It isn’t mandatory, but I’d use it.
