Introduction
Welcome to DottzGaming.com’s Magicka Warden Build PvE, the Shaman, for the Elder Scrolls Online! This build is intended for PvE content of all kinds: trials, vet dungeons and solo adventuring!
Magicka Warden has a great AOE potential due to Winter’s Revenge and Deep Fissure, a semi-spammable that gives a lot of AOE damage. Bear ultimate is finally affected by Bloodthirsty trait and it’s now a strong ultimate. The new vampire spammable suits Magden very well. If we can stay in melee range, we could expect around 5k DPS increase. However, the non-vampire is still a good option.

Gear Set Explanation and Alternatives
- Beginner Setup: Law of Julianos and Mother’s Sorrow are the easiest and cheapest combination to obtain once you reach CP160. For Mother’s Sorrow you can purchase blue jewelries if you cannot afford purple or gold yet. The ‘beginner’ setup already allows you to clear veteran maelstrom arena or meet most vet trials’ DPS requirement, make sure you don’t underestimate them! Once you get vMA inferno staff, swap out Julianos inferno staff on the back bar for an ‘intermediate’ setup.
- Zaan: A melee single-target monster set providing the highest DPS if you can stay at melee range. If you need to stay at ranged most of the time, pick one of the other monster sets mentioned above or 2 different pieces with spell crit bonus e.g. Iceheart + Slimecraw
- Iceheart: A defensive monster helm which is very useful when you are doing progression trials or dungeons. For those who enter vMA the first time, it might be a good choice.
- Maw of Infernal: Another Monster giving extra burning and good DPS potential. However, it might be annoying to Melee DPS or tanks.
- Mother’s Sorrow: A staple magicka set for magicka DPS due the shadow mundus being buffed in Wrathstone patch, providing a lot of crit.
- Law of Julianos: A crafted set that requires 6 traits researched. Best beginner set for all magicka classes, also good enough for all end-game PVE contents in case you do not have any other gear sets mentioned below
- Perfected False God’s Devotion: Another set that can be used in any situation, providing an 8% cost reduction in magicka abilities and restore magicka when you kill an enemy. The major expedition is also useful in certain situations
- Mantle of Siroria: Personally, I am not a big fan of Siroria because of how it limits my movement to maintain the stack. However, in situations that allows you to stay at certain position it might be a good set providing 600 spell damage when you get the full stack.
Attributes
All points into Magicka.
Skills
Main Bar – Flame Staff: Deep Fissure, Fetcher Infection, Screaming Cliff Racer, Blue Betty, Bird of Prey, Eternal Guardian
Back Bar – Flame Staff: Winter’s Revenge, Unstable Wall of Elements, Channeled Acceleration, Dampen Magic, Mystic Orb, Eternal Guardian
Alternative Skills
- Elemental Rage: Use this when you need a burst AOE ultimate
Vampire vs. Werewolf vs. Mortal
For this build both mortal or vampire would be fine, but I recommend mortal. If you do really want to be a vampire, make sure you can use the skill Blood For Blood most of the time, or else you would just receive sustain nerfs without much benefit from vampire.

Resource Management & Rotation
Suggestions to improve sustain (not a must if you feel satisfied with your sustain):
- 1 magicka recovery glyph on jewelry if you are using High Elf / Dark Elf or any other races without any sustain passives, but make sure they are not on infused jewelries
- If you feel good with your sustain, change the enchant on the back bar to weapon damage glyph
We are using a dynamic rotation to maximize our DPS, so there’s no static rotation. Warden has an easier rotation since we cast Deep Fissure every 3rd cast, so the stem of the rotation is
Deep Fissure > Skill > Skill > Deep Fissure > Skill > Skill > Deep Fissure ….
Those skills between Deep fissure casts will be any DOTs / Buffs that just ended, if all of them are still up, then Screaming Cliff Racer would be the skill to cast, also known as our “spammable”. Check the video below for a clearer picture of the rotation
It might take a bit of time to get used to it, but I highly recommend practicing a dynamic rotation so that you won’t mess up your rotation even if you have to do mechanics. When you solo parse, replace your shield with elemental drain.
