Introduction

Welcome to DottzGaming.com’s Magicka Sorcerer PvE DPS Build, Apothis, for the Elder Scrolls Online! This build is intended for veteran dungeons, trials and general PvE. Sorcerers got a great buff in recent patches, with pets inheriting bonuses and derived stats like Critical Hit Chance, Critical Hit Multipliers, Champion Points, and other % damage or healing amplifications, we are using one pet to maximize our damage. Unlike the two-pet build, it’s a full light attack rotation that you do not need to heavy attacks all the time until you fall asleep!

Setup

Gears and skills listed in the table are not the best in every situation. Make sure to check out the gear and skills explanation to know how they work or why I used certain combinations.

Gear Set Explanation and Alternatives

Beginner Setup: Law of Julianos and Mother’s Sorrow are the easiest and cheapest combination to obtain once you reach CP160. For Mother’s Sorrow you can purchase blue jewelries if you cannot afford purple or gold yet. The ‘beginner’ setup already allows you to clear veteran maelstrom arena or meet most vet trials’ DPS requirement, make sure you don’t underestimate them! Once you get vMA inferno staff, swap out Julianos inferno staff on the back bar for an ‘intermediate’ setup.

Valkyn Skoria: A ranged monster set I use most of the time, providing a burst with an additional AOE damage. The one line of health also allows us to meet the 16-17k health requirement without any health enchants.

Ilambris:Personally, I am not a big fan of Ilambris but it’s still a good ranged monster set especially for magicka sorcerers as enchants, Blockade of Fire, Liquid Lightning would proc this set, which results in a higher proc chance compared to other magicka classes, also being the easiest set to obtain among the 3 monster sets I recommend

Zaan: A melee single-target monster set providing the highest DPS if you can stay at melee range (replacing Valkyn Skoria). If you need to stay at ranged most of the time, pick one of the other 2 monster sets mentioned above

Mother’s Sorrow: A staple magicka set for magicka DPS due the shadow mundus being buffed in Wrathstone patch, providing a lot of crit.

Law of Julianos: A crafted set that requires 6 traits researched. Best beginner set for all magicka classes, also good enough for all end-game PVE contents in case you do not have any other gear sets mentioned below

Necropotence:A strong magicka DPS set that can be used in any situation, providing a huge amount of magicka when you have a pet activated.

Spell Strategist:A very strong front bar set for magicka DPS, providing high spell damage against single target. This suffers a bit in trash pack fights though since it’s a primarily single target set, but for me, it’s still worth running because of how much damage it enables on important targets and boss fights. If you are in a fight with a lot of add packs or requiring more AOE damage, use Final Setup 2 or replace Spell Strategist with Burning Spellweave, which is another good front bar set

Mantle of Siroria: Personally, I am not a big fan of Siroria because of how it limits my movement to maintain the stack. However, in situations that allows you to stay at certain position it might be a good set providing 600 spell damage when you get the full stack.

Resource Management & Rotation

Suggestions to improve sustain (not a must if you feel satisfied with your sustain):

  • 1 magicka recovery glyph on jewelry if you are using High Elf / Dark Elf or any other races without any sustain passives, but make sure they are not on infused jewelries

ROTATION

We are using a dynamic rotation to maximize our DPS, so there’s no static rotation. It might take a bit of time to get used to it, but I highly recommend practicing a dynamic rotation so that you won’t mess up your rotation even if you have to do mechanics

Channeled Acceleration > Weapon Swap > Summon Twilight Tormentor > Light Attack > Daedric Prey > Weapon Swap > Light Attack > Liquid Lightning > Light Attack > Blockade of Fire > Weapon Swap > Light Attack > Spam Elemental Weapon with Light Attack until you DOTs/ Buffs almost fall off

  • Cast Summon Twilight Tormentor only when your target is ABOVE 50% health
  • Reapply DOTs and Buffs just before they end. The only DOT you should NEVER reapply earlier is Daedric Prey. For the other DOTs or Buffs, you may reapply slightly earlier
  • Crystal Fragments take priority over elemental weapon, replace one elemental weapon when it procs
  • Greater Storm Atronach is our primary ultimate due to the synergy (Major Berserk) it provides the group. Make sure you place it at a place where the other DDs could use the synergy! (Bad Example: Pads of vMOL last boss)
