Introduction

Welcome to DottzGaming.com’s Stamina Dragonknight PvE DPS Build, Noxious, for the Elder Scrolls Online! This build is intended for all content – general PvE, vDungeons, vTrials and Maelstrom Arena. We focus on a heavy attack damage over time rotation to boast insanely high damage all while sustaining through long fights due to not having to use a spammable. Stamina Dragonknights are very flexible this patch, you can experiment with different gear sets, abilities and bar setups without losing a ton of DPS as long as you follow the foundations that we’re building upon.

Gear Explanations and Alternatives

Monster Sets

  • Velidreth
    • Tried and tested stamina DPS monster set. Fires three spores forward in a cone, multiple can hit the same target.
  • Stormfist
    • So the proc isn’t that great on a stamina dragonknight but the 1PC stamina recovery can be very valuable in resource intensive fights such as the last boss in HoF. If you’re having trouble sustaining consider switching to Stormfist.

Gear Sets

  • Hundings Rage
    • Hundings is a commonly used stamina set due to how easily obtainable it is. If you’ve just reached 160CP or are just starting to farm  for your trial gear this is the go to and should be paired with something like Spriggans.
  • Arms of Relequen
    • Relequens vastly outperforms every other set in strictly single target and fights have that high time on target. Keep in mind, it is a situational set, but in those single target fights it really does shine. It comes in two forms, Perfected Arms of Relequen and Arms of Relequens, with the perfected version having an additional stamina bonus on the 5PC.
  • Advancing Yokeda
    • With the ability to transmute the jewellery on this set it is one of the best performing sets to front bar because of the insane amount of critical it provides. Keep in mind a tight rotation is required to get the most out of this set as a slow rotation will result in a low uptime on the 5PC.
  • Vicious Ophidian
    • The almighty sustain set. For content such as Maelstrom and Blackrose it truly is the holy grail. It’s just a really well-rounded set for so many scenarios. If you really have no idea what to run you cannot go wrong with Vicious Ophidian.
  • Two Fanged Serpent
    • Theoretically the highest damage increasing set when you’re not already at the penetration cap. If you’re in a organised trial group that is hitting the penetration cap this is a worthless set. Do NOT run this set on your weapons, you’ll lose the penetration buff when you switch to your back-bar as it only lasts 3 seconds.
  • Spriggans
    • Replacement for Twice Fanged Serpent. Once again the same as TFS this should NOT be used on your weapons, you will lose the penetration buff when you weapon swap rendering it useless.
  • Ravager / Briarheart / Veiled Heritance
    • Both are reasonable replacements for Advancing Yokeda if you do not have access to it or would prefer something more easily obtainable.
  • Morag Tong
    • It only becomes worthwhile to run Morag Tong if you have two or more Stamina Dragonknights in your group as it buffs all their poison damage by 10% otherwise this should not be used.
  • Agility
    • Agility is still one of the performing sets to run on your jewellery if you do not have access to trial gear. If you’re just starting out and haven’t had a chance to farm trial sets yet, go with this.

Attributes

All points into stamina.

Skills

I will providing two skills setups and further down two rotations associated with them both. One is a light attack rotation which provides higher DPS but at the cost of lower sustain and the other a heavy attack rotation which results in lower DPS but is sustainable for longer periods of time. Depending on your level of group support via orbs/shards, your race and champion points one or the other may be more suited to you. Experiment with both to find out which one is better for you.

Other Important Info

Buff Food

Braised Rabbit with Spring Vegetables (Max Health+Stam)

Artaeum Takeaway Broth / Dubious Camoran Throne (Max Stat and Recovery)

  • If you are having trouble sustaining due to your group support, race and champion points go with this food instead.

Mundus

Lover – Increased Physical/Spell Penetration – After the balance changes to Night Mothers Gaze and Sunderflame the Lover is required in trials to hit the penetration cap.

Race

  1. Redguard
  2. Khajit
  3. Orc
  4. Wood Elf

Depending on your choice of race you may or may not be able to sustain the rotation I provide in this build. While all races can work I highly recommend Redguard. It’s the highest producing DPS race for stamina builds and has superior sustain when compared to any other. If you are NOT a Redguard you may have to alter your rotation / heavy attacks per rotation to sustain through long fights.

Potions/Poisons

Potion: Weapon Power Potions (Weapon Damage, Weapon Critical and Stamina.)
Requires Blessed Thistle, Dragonthorn and Wormwood to create.

Passives

Ardent Flame (ALL), Draconic Power (ALL), Earthen Heart (ALL), Dual Wield (ALL), Bow (ALL), Medium Armour (ALL), Heavy Armour (Resolve,, Constitution, Juggernaut), Fighters Guild (Intimidating Presence, Slayer, Banish the Wicked, Skiller Tracker), Psijic Order (ALL), Undaunted (ALL), Racial (ALL), Alchemy (Medicinal Use)

Resource Management & Rotation

LA – Light Attack

HA – Heavy Attack

WS – Weapon Swap

LIGHT ATTACK ROTATION

Before entering the fight make sure to apply Flames of Oblivion and if possible place Rearming Trap down.

For this rotation we will be using both Rending Slashes and Venomous Claw as our spammable. Both are cheaper than using the alternatives such as Crushing Weapon and Shrouded Dagger. We will be alternating between using Rending and Venomous depending on our sustain, Rending costs more to use but is the preferred choice as each tick of Venomous Claw deals more damage so when possible you should allow it to reach its full duration.

Dual Wield:

LA – Venomous Claw – LA – Rending Slashes – LA – Noxious Breath – LA – ( Rending Slashes / Venomous Claw Spam – LA )  – Rearming Trap – WS

Bow:

Endless Hail – LA – Razor Caltrops – LA – Poison Injection – WS

Standard of Might should be cast after applying all of your damage over time abilities so they’re all ticking for the full duration.

If Flames of Oblivion needs refreshing during your front bar rotation, swap to your back bar to recast it.

HEAVY ATTACK ROTATION

Before entering the fight make sure to apply Molten Armaments and Flames of Oblivion and if possible Deadly Cloak.

Starting Rotation:

Endless Hail – WS – Rearming Trap – WS – LA – Poison Injection – LA – Razor Caltrops – WS – LA – Venomous Claw – LA – Noxious Breath – LA – Rending Slashes – LA – Deadly Cloak – HA – Rearming Trap – WS

Dual Wield:

LA – Venomous Claw – HA – Noxious Breath – HA – Rending Slashes – LA – Rearming Trap – LA – Deadly Cloak – WS

Bow:

LA – Endless Hail – LA – Razor Caltrops  – LA – Poison Injection – LA – Flames of Oblivion – ( Standard of Might ) – WS

You can reapply Molten Armaments when necessary.

If you cast Molten Armaments and/or an ultimate while on your back-bar you can do one less Heavy Attack on your front bar to make sure you get back to your bow bar before your dots drop off.

Tips & Misc.

Vampire

Being a Vampire provides a free 10% Magicka and Stamina Recovery through the Supernatural Recovery passive. The downside being up to 25% extra flame damage taken. The stamina recovery is redundant for the recommend races I provided as you’re able to sustain easily via heavy attacks and for that reason I don’t go Vampire but the option is there if you are struggling with sustain.

Razor Caltrops vs Anti-Cavalry Caltrops

The rotation I provided above is 11-12 seconds long per rotation which is the length of Razor Caltrops.

If you need to heavy attack more than twice on your front-bar to sustain it will increase the length of your rotation meaning Razor Caltrops will drop off early. If your rotation is 13 seconds or more go with Anti-Cavalry Caltrops as it will provide slightly more DPS.

Veteran Maelstrom Arena

Gear

The setup provided below is the best possible setup. If you do not have access to this gear, you can always use the beginner gear ( Stamina Dragonknight PvE Build – Beginner ) provided at the top of this guide.

Main Bar – Dual Wield

  • Venomous Claw ( Ardent Flame > Morph of Searing Strike )
  • Blood Craze ( Dual Wield > Morph of Twin Slashes )
  • Crushing Weapon ( Psijic Order > Morph of Imbue Weapon )
  • Deadly Cloak ( Dual Wield > Morph of Blade Cloak )
  • Resolving Vigor ( Assault > Morph of Vigor )
  • Flawless Dawnbreaker( Fighters Guild > Morph of Dawnbreaker )

Back Bar – Bow

  • Endless Hail ( Bow > Morph of Volley )
  • Razor Caltrops ( Assault > Morph of Caltrops )
  • Poison Injection ( Bow > Morph of Poison Arrow )
  • Rearming Trap ( Fighters Guild > Morph of Trap Beast )
  • Noxious Breath ( Ardent Flame > Morph of Fiery Breath )
  • Ballista ( Bow  > Morph of Rapid Fire )

Here are some other abilities you may consider slotting if it is your first time / you’re inexperienced / you’re struggling with specific rounds.

Igneous Shield – Gives you major mending increasing all your healing for a period of time and provides a tiny shield. Useful for Maelstrom Arena if you’re learning the arenas. I think people overvalue this skill, for me it does very little – the shield is miniscule as it scales with magicka and the major mending only lasts 3 seconds so you get very little use out of it.

Dragon Fire Scale – Another valuable skill for Maelstrom. Reflects up to 4 projecticles doing an additional 35% damage. Worth slotting on most rounds excluding the first and second. Especially for rounds 5 and 7, you can effectively ignore the rangers / archers as they’ll kill themselves if you keep this active. It is expensive though, runs out quickly if overwhelmed and costs magicka which you don’t have a lot of to begin with.

Corrosive Armor – In a nutshell it provides 9 seconds of immunity to any damage and while active your attacks ignore all resistances on your target. If you’re just learning Maelstrom or it’s your first time running it on stamina dragonknight I’d recommend trying this if you’re struggling. It’s not only a useful defensive skill but makes burning bosses pretty quick because of the removal of all resistances for 9 seconds.

Other Maelstrom Tips

Mundus Stone

In Maelstrom we’re not at the penetration cap so we’re going to be using the Lover mundus.

Vigor

You should be using it preemptively rather than reactively. Don’t wait until you’re about to die to Vigor, when you activate it you’re guaranteeing five seconds of survival, activating it at full health when you’re about to get hit is how it should be used. Forget the fact it is a heal-over-time, use it more like a Magicka class’ shield to prevent damage.

Valkyn Skoria

When I was first learning vMA on my Stam DK I swapped out my stamina monster set for this bad boy. I figured the extra health would really go a long way and the guaranteed single target consistent damage wouldn’t be bad either and boy was I not wrong. If you’re just learning the arena I really recommend Valkyn even on stamina builds. It led to my first ever clear of vMA and it may lead to yours, give it a try.
