Introduction

Welcome to DottzGaming.com’s Stamina Dragonknight Build PvE, Noxious, for the Elder Scrolls Online! This build is intended for all content – general PvE, vDungeons, vTrials and Maelstrom Arena. The Stamina Dragonknight is a really good introduction class for beginners and people looking to move into end-game as it’s easy to play and the rotation is easy to follow. Stamina Dragonknights are very flexible, you can experiment with different gear sets, abilities and bar setups without losing a ton of DPS as long as you follow the foundations that we’re building upon.

Gear Explanations and Alternatives

Monster Sets

  • Maarselok
    • Deals disease damage to enemies over four seconds, damage is increased for each negative effect on the target up to 150% additional damage. You are required to bash the enemy to proc the effect once every 7 seconds. In trial enviroments with more than just your own negative effects this parses substantially better than all other options but it is hard to sustain.
  • Selene
    • Selene’s has a chance to activate on every hit of Rapid Strikes, so with the already reasonably high proc chance and low cool down you will see an extremely high uptime of the proc if paired with Rapid Strikes.
  • Velidreth
    • Tried and tested stamina DPS monster set. Fires three spores forward in a cone, multiple can hit the same target.
  • Stormfist
    • Stormfirst has a less than ideal 2PC on a stamina dragonknight but the 1PC stamina recovery can be very valuable in resource intensive fights such as the last boss in HoF. If you’re having trouble sustaining consider switching to Stormfist.

Gear Sets

  • Hundings Rage
    • Hundings is a commonly used stamina set due to how easily obtainable it is. If you’ve just reached 160CP or are just starting to farm for your trial gear this is the go to and should be paired with something like Spriggans.
  • Arms of Relequen
    • Relequens vastly outperforms every other set in strictly single target and fights have that high time on target. Keep in mind, it is a situational set, but in those single target fights it really does shine. It comes in two forms, Perfected Arms of Relequen and Arms of Relequen, with the perfected version having an additional stamina bonus on the 5PC.
  • Tooth of Lokkestiiz
    • Grants Major Slayer for 15 seconds every time you activate a synergy. This is typically used on your front bar only so it is important to only activate synergies on your dual wield bar to make sure you do not lose uptime on the buff. If you have low group support through Orbs, Shards and other abilites that provide synergies this will perform poorly.
  • Aegis Caller
    • One of the new sets with Harrowstorm. It’s a decent replacement for Arms of Relequens situationally in fights with a lot of trash or multiple priority targets.
  • Vicious Ophidian
    • The almighty sustain set. For content such as Maelstrom and Blackrose it truly is the holy grail. It’s just a really well-rounded set for so many scenarios. If you really have no idea what to run you cannot go wrong with Vicious Ophidian.
  • Two Fanged Serpent
    • Theoretically the highest damage increasing set when you’re not already at the penetration cap. If you’re in an organised trial group that is hitting the penetration cap this is a worthless set. Do NOT run this set on your weapons, you’ll lose the penetration buff when you switch to your back-bar as it only lasts 3 seconds.
  • Spriggan’s Thorns
    • Replacement for Twice Fanged Serpent. Once again the same as TFS this should NOT be used on your weapons, you will lose the penetration buff when you weapon swap rendering it useless.
  • Advancing Yokeda / Briarheart / Tzogvins Warband / Leviathan
    • All of the above are suitable options for your front bar set if you would prefer something easier to farm or use. Most of these should only ever be single barred as there are better sets that you can double bar and most of these sets do not require you to double bar them to keep the buff they provide active.

Flex Skills

  • Whirling Blades – When you need more AoE damage for trash fights you can slot Whirling Blades on the front bar in place of Barbed Trap and cast Barbed Trap from the Bow Bar.
  • Resolving / Echoing Vigor – Slotted simply for the extra heals if needed.

Vampire vs. Werewolf vs. Mortal

You are playing a mortal for this build since Vampire/Werewolf dont provide any benefit to this build and its playstyle.

Buff Food

Braised Rabbit with Spring Vegetables (Max Health & Stamina)
Redguard and Bosmer can comfortably sustain the rotations I provide whilst using bi-stat food.

Artaeum Takeaway Broth / Dubious Camoran Throne (Max Stat and Recovery)
If you are having trouble sustaining due to your group support, race and champion points go with this food instead.
Races with no inherent stamina sustain such as Orc, Khajiit and Dark Elf should run this food.

Mundus

Shadow – Increases Critical Damage
The Shadow was buffed in Wrathstone up to 13% from 9% which makes it significantly better now.

The following rotation will be broken up into two parts.
Part I being the rotation used to initially apply the stagger buff to the target from stone giant and Part II being the follow up rotation afterwards which is continually used throughout the fight.
Note: For maximum DPS a dynamic rotation is required. Regardless, below is a fixed rotation if you prefer to play that way.
Precast Flames of Oblivion three times to stack the buff from Molten Whip.

Part I – Initial Rotation ( applying the stagger buff )

Here are some other abilities you may consider slotting if it is your first time / you’re inexperienced / you’re struggling with specific rounds.

Igneous Shield – Gives you major mending increasing all your healing for a period of time and provides a tiny shield. Useful for Maelstrom Arena if you’re learning the arenas.

Protective Plate – Another valuable skill for Maelstrom. Reduces your damage taken from projectiles by 50% for 6 seconds and you gain immunity to snares and immovilizations for 2 seconds. Especially for rounds 5 and 7, you can relieve some of the pressure from the rangers.

Corrosive Armor – In a nutshell it provides 10 seconds of immunity to any damage and while active your direct damage attacks attacks ignore all resistances on your target. If you’re just learning Maelstrom or it’s your first time running it on stamina dragonknight I’d recommend trying this if you’re struggling. It’s not only a useful defensive skill but makes burning bosses pretty quick because of the removal of all resistances for 10 seconds.
Other Maelstrom Tips

Mundus Stone
In Maelstrom we’re not at the penetration cap so we’re going to be using the Lover mundus.

Vigor
You should be using it preemptively rather than reactively. Don’t wait until you’re about to die to Vigor, when you activate it you’re guaranteeing five seconds of survival, activating it at full health when you’re about to get hit is how it should be used. Forget the fact it is a heal-over-time, use it more like a Magicka class’ shield to prevent damage.

Valkyn Skoria
When I was first learning vMA on my Stam DK I swapped out my stamina monster set for this bad boy. I figured the extra health would really go a long way and the guaranteed single target consistent damage wouldn’t be bad either and boy was I not wrong. If you’re just learning the arena I really recommend Valkyn even on stamina builds. It led to my first ever clear of vMA and it may lead to yours, give it a try.
