Welcome to DottzGaming.com’s Magicka Necromancer PVP build, Horror, for the Elder Scrolls Online! This build is intended for PvP of all kinds: battlegrounds, Cyrodiil, dueling, and Imperial City. This build can be played in both CP and no-CP pvp without any changes to the build!

Magicka Necromancer has been in a rough spot in terms of solo PvP ever since it was released, but the recent changes that the class got in Dragonhold definitely gave it a little bit of help. Fundamentally, I still think Necromancer tethers as well as blastbones need to be reworked to be way more reliable, but, we have to work with what we have! So, I tried to use what the MagCro has at its disposal to bring you guys a solid build that can be used in solo or group play. The build’s gear and skill loadout lean fully into damage with an attempt to give magcro the damage it needs to finish off targets. MagCro is able to go heavy into damage on it’s gear because it basically is given a free Buffer of the Swift 5 piece via one of its summoned pets. In additions, our main burst heal also gives us a ton of bonus resistance, so the majority of the build’s defense can be found in its skills.

The build does lack a bit in movement, but that’s a bit of a symptom of Necromancer more than anything else. Because of this, we pick up vampirism to help give us some much needed movement via mist form!

Keep in mind that PvP builds are very personal. This is what worked for ME. If you don’t like something about it, change it to fit your playstyle.

Gear Explanation

Slimecraw: Gives us a very solid boost to our damage by giving the build access to minor berserk. You could also potentially run Zaan here if you prefer a proc based damage set.

Necropotence: One of the best magicka damage sets for any build that runs pets. This set gives us an absolutely massive boost to our maximum magicka as long as we have a pet active, and we always will with Spirit Guardian.

Crafty Alfiq: This set just continues to lean into our maximum magicka stack, giving us 5 lines of maximum magicka. This combined with Necropotence gives a monstrous magicka pool, giving us big damage and a ton of magicka to cast our skills!

All points into Magicka.

Force Pulse Stalking Blastbones Accelerating Drain Deaden Pain Elemental Drain Glacial Colossus
Resistant Flesh Dampen Magic Spirit Guardian Summoner's Armor Elusive Mist Temporal Guard

Main Bar – Destruction Staff: Force Pulse, Stalking Blast Bones, Accelerating Drain, Deaden Pain/Mortal Coil, Elemental Drain, Glacial Colossus

Back Bar – 1h/Shield: Resistant Flesh, Dampen Magic, Spirit Guardian, Summoner’s Armor, Elusive Mist, Temporal Guard

NOTE: For group play, replace Temporal Guard with a choice morph of Reanimate. Also, you can run Deaden Pain or Mortal Coil for your front bar corpse consumption skill; I’ve used both in that slot! You can also run your choice morph of the vampire drain; I’ve used both and they’re both good choices.

Vampire vs. Mortal

For this patch, I’ve gone back to being a vampire. I’ve found magicka builds with high resistance can take great benefit from the vampire passives and are tanky enough to survive through the drawbacks. Having mist form for Cyrodiil is a great tool and allows us to stay mobile without having to drain our stamina for movement.

Witchmother’s Potent Brew (Max Health, Magicka and Magicka Recovery)

The Mage: Increased Magicka

Dark Elf: This is my favorite race for this build personally. You get some maximum magicka, increased spell damage, fire resistance and a very welcomed boost to our stamina pool. Just gives the build the bonuses it needs to be more well rounded!

Most races will be able to perform well on this build. Just make sure you adjust your glyphs/traits to meet your sustain needs and make sure you have at least 14k stamina in CP PVP!

Spell Power Potions (Spell Crit, Spell Damage, Magicka Restoration)
Cornflower, Ladys Smock, Water Hyacinth

Resource Management & Rotation

  • Maintain your buffs and debuffs to make sure you’re getting all the sustain and offensive/defensive power that the build has to offer.
  • Your main burst combo is Blastbones into the Glacial Colossus. Drop your blast bones, stun your target and drop the Glacial Colossus. This will deal incredible burst damage, and your target will then be afflicted with major vulnerability, so any Force Pulses after your main combo will be hitting incredibly hard!
  • Defensively, you want to apply your Dampen Magic and then use Resistant Flesh. The burst heal will give you a big heal and a ton of resistances to make the Dampen Magic a tough shield to crack through!
