Introduction
Welcome to DottzGaming.com’s Melee Magicka Nightblade DPS PvP Build, Umbra, for the Elder Scrolls Online! This build is intended for PvP of all kinds: battlegrounds, Cyrodiil, dueling, and Imperial City. This build can be played in both CP and no-CP pvp!
This build is a glass cannon melee magicka nightblade build with high damage and high movement capabilities. Melee magblade was the first character I ever made when I came to ESO, so I wanted to go back to my roots and make a really fun melee magblade build, and we did just that! While it isnt as good/easy as it’s traditional destro counterpart, it can still be incredibly potent when played right and is an absolute blast! If you like high damage, high movement, but a steep learning curve, then you’ll love the Umbra build!
Keep in mind that PvP builds are very personal. This is what worked for ME. If you don’t like something about it, change it to fit your playstyle.

Gear Explanation
- Dual Wield and Restoration Staff: This weapon setup is a really fun one on magicka nightblade, and is a throwback to the old school style! While it isn’t as good as a staff, Dual Wield still does bring a flat damage buff to the build via the Twin Blade and Blunt passive, and brings superior fashion per second. Restoration Staff is our back bar choice to allow us to heal ourselves back up while kiting.
- Innate Axiom: With the lowering of Concealed Weapon’s cost, we do not need as much sustain as we did last patch. Because of this, I changed Shacklebreaker to Innate Axiom. It gives us the stam pool we need with the line of stamina, and gives us greater offensive potential than Shackle gave us.
- Troll King: This set is an amazing set for nightblade survivability. Because of cloak and shade, we are able to disengage from combat fairly easily. If we disengage into a healing ward while we are low, this will kick in Troll King and help us heal back up faster while in stealth, allowing us to get back in the fray that much faster!
- Bright-Throat’s Boast: This is magicka Bone Pirate, giving us a TON of additional magicka and magicka sustain while we use a buff drink. This set is incredibly good because not only does it enable a ton of sustain, but the boost to our magicka also gives us a lot more damage, making it very well rounded for a build like this!
- Mender’s Ward: Gives us a strong HoT on our healing ward due to the major vitality giving it a massive boost! Points into bastion in our CP tree will help make this shield even larger, and allow that HoT to tick for longer alongside our Troll King HP regen.
Attributes
All points into Magicka.
Skills
Main Bar – Dual Wield: Lotus Fan, Concealed Weapon, Merciless Resolve, Shadowy Disguise, Debilitate, Soul Harvest
Back Bar – Restoration Staff: Mass Hysteria, Shadow Image, Healing Ward, Phantasmal Escape, Siphoning Attacks, Soul Tether
Vampire vs. Werewolf vs. Mortal
For this build I recommend playing as a mortal. Werewolf and Vampire dont really offer this build enough to warrant using them in my opinion.

Race
Imperial: I used Imperial originally because the guy I created this build on was my tank and I didn’t want to buy a race change, but honestly Imperial is a very good option. The health and stamina are very welcomed on a build like this, and the cost reduction/proc’d sustain helps keep our resources topped off and gets us to our ultimate quicker. Overall, a solid choice.
Dark Elf: Probably the only other race I’d use over Imperial and is a bit stronger in my opinion. This gives us the much needed stamina this build wants and a ton of additional damage. If you go dark elf, be sure to run prismatic glyphs on your head, chest and legs to give yourself a respectable health pool.
Potions/Poisons

Tips & Misc.
- This build is squishy. Your survivability comes from your movement, so proper shade placement is paramount to success. Also, maintaining your Phantasmal Escape will help you take less damage.
- Maintain Siphoning Attacks and Debilitate to make sure you have maximum sustain.
- Use your potion before engaging since it is where we are getting our Major Sorcery.
- Be sure to gap close with Lotus Fan to get your minor vulnerability up.
- Once you get to 5 light attacks on your merciless resolve, you want to fear (or concealed weapon stun), Soul Harvest, into your Assassin’s Will. This combo deals a ton of damage and will be your primary offensive strategy.
