Introduction

Welcome to DottzGaming.com’s Warden Tank/Healer PvE Build, the Druid, for the Elder Scrolls Online! This build is intended for 4-man dungeons without a dedicated healer. Many dungeons are easier if run with a tank and 3 DPS. A tank that can also provide healing will make this a breeze. This build works well in normal trials but isn’t designed for veteran trials. There is an alternative for trials on DottzGaming.com website.

The tank/healer build revolves around the healing thicket ultimate and use of Master Architect for major slayer damage buffs to your group. The healing thicket is a low-cost ultimate that you will be able to use quite often. The build also provides flexibility in using either destruction staff for higher damage group performance or a restoration staff if the group needs additional healing support.

NOTE: The most important piece of advice playing a tank is to learn your class and understand the situations you are going to be in while tanking. Following a build is not a recipe for being a good tank, it’s just one of a large number of possible paths to follow. The best build for you is the one that works for you. Rationale for gear choices:

  • Blood Spawn provides you with more resists and faster ultimate generation which means more healing thickets and more uptime on major slayer.
  • Akaviri Dragonguard is a heavy armor set providing you with needed resistances, more magicka recovery and lower cost ultimates.
  • Master Architect provides major slayer damage buffs to 2 of your allies whenever you use an ultimate.
  • The Triune trait on jewelry is not easy to acquire. Use the default trait on the jewelry until you can change it.
  • We use a lightning staff on the back bar to keep a shock blockade going all the time. Using an infused staff with a crusher glyph helps us keep the crusher effect up as well as use it on groups of enemies. If you are very skilled at keeping crusher effect up with only your front bar weapon, use a Charged staff with a Shock damage glyph instead. One really crucial benefit of a lightning staff is to concuss enemies and proc off-balance. A charged staff will concuss enemies much quicker and proc off-balance. Enemies that are off-balance takes more damage from your whole group. In addition, enemies that are off-balance gives more resources to your team when they heavy attack.
  • An alternative to a lightning staff is a Master Architect restoration staff if you feel that your group will benefit from more healing options such as combat prayer and healing springs.

Yes, be a vampire. You receive increased magicka recovery and being undead you take less damage if you are low health. Maintain stage 3 vampire for best benefit.

Heroic Slash One Handed & Shield This skill applies the minor maim debuff on the target and grants you minor heroism which increases your ultimate generation. Keep this up as your stamina pool can sustain it.
Pierce Armor One Handed & Shield This is our primary taunt for enemies in front of us. It also debuffs with major fracture and breach.
Expansive Frost Cloak Winter’s Embrace Grant Major Ward and Major Resolve to yourself and allies within 28 meters.
Absorb Magic [FLEX SLOT] One Handed & Shield This skill increases the amount of damage your block mitigates and reduces your block cost just by having it slotted. Its active use is only useful in some places. Notable ones are Veteran Imperial City Prison and Veteran Maw of Lorkhaj while fighting Rakkhat. See FLEX SLOT options for skills to use instead as the need calls for.
Bull Netch Animal Companions The bull netch provides you with stamina over time. Keep this companion active at all times.
Healing Thicket Green Balance Heal allies in the radius of the abilities and healing continues even if allies leave the area for 4 seconds. You can alternatively use the Enchanted Forest morph for possible more ultimate return but players have to remain in the radius to receive the healing.
Elemental Blockade Destruction Staff This is an AoE shock DoT you should keep active at all times. It will damage enemies with shock damage which can lead to them becoming off-balance. An enemy that is off-balance takes more damage from your group and provides more resources when hit with a heavy attack.
Inner Rage Undaunted This is your ranged taunt.
Enchanted Growth Green Balance A quick heal for yourself and your group if needed situationally.
Frozen Device [FLEX SLOT] Winter’s Embrace Teleport enemies to you for quicker group AoE damage. This morph also applies major main to teleported enemies.
Deceptive Predator Animal Companions This skill increases your movement speed, stamina recovery and dodge chance. Keep this up as your magicka resources allow it. It’s our only Animal Companions back bar skill so it’s important to keep it for the passive magicka recovery bonus.
Aggressive War Horn Alliance War Assault Provides your group with 9.5 seconds of major force and 30 seconds of increased max resources. Without doubt the best ultimate for a tank.
FLEX OPTIONS
Shimmering Shield Winter’s Embrace Absorbs ranged projectiles, return magicka to you and grants you major heroism.
Gripping Shards Winter’s Embrace An AoE root similar to DK talons.
Crushing Shock Destruction Staff Longer range interrupt ability.
Energy Orb Undaunted Provides healing and synergies for your group.
Deep Thoughts Psijic Order Slot this skill if you need a way to recover resources fast. Keep in mind to only use it if you are not in danger of getting one-shot to death so learn first which situations are safe. You will not be blocking while channeling but you will have major protection via skill line passives.

Potions

If you are an Argonian, you can use pick-up stamina potions for most content, but for harder content craft tri-stat potions (bugloss, columbine, mountain flower).

Resource Management & Rotation

Keep your bull netch active at all times for stamina resources. Use Enchanted Forest if you need quick healing. Heavy attack when safe to do so for stamina return on your sword/shield bar or magicka return on your destruction staff. Avoid swapping to your back bar if you are about to be hit with a heavy attack. When you do bar swap, only spend a minimal time on your destruction staff bar and swap back to your front bar. Light attack as needed to keep crusher enchantment up on the target. Learn to avoid over-taunting and over-using stamina based skills so you don’t run out of resources.
