Introduction

Welcome to DottzGaming.com’s medium armor Stamina Necromancer DPS PvP Build, the Dread Wraith, for the Elder Scrolls Online!  This build is intended for all kinds of PvP (both non-CP and CP), from Battlegrounds and Dueling, all the way to the front lines of Cyrodiil.

The Stamina Necromancer is arguably one of the most satisfying classes to play in PvP, what it lacks in consistency, it makes up for in both style and brutality.  Necromancer has access to the single most powerful debuff in the game (Major Vulnerability), this paired with Blighted Blastbones and a well placed execute can result in devastating amounts of damage.  Just to give you another selling point to try out this class, Necromancer is also one of the most durable classes in the game, possessing innate damage mitigation (both a flat 15% reduction to DoTs, and an additional 10% mitigation from all sources when using the Spirit Guardian ability) and a well rounded healing kit to complement this natural resistance.

So with that out of the way, let’s get into this build!

Please Note:  This setup is more of a highly customizable template rather than a set-in-stone build, and I will be mentioning several alternative sets that can obtain very similar results.  This build also comes in two distinct playstyles that can be switched with the simple alteration of a few skills and traits (I personally play both styles, and couldn’t pick a favorite for the build, so why not detail both?)

Gear Explanation

  • Clever Alchemist:This set brings phenomenal burst potential, giving you a massive buff to your damage for 15 seconds after you drink a potion.  The massive downtime of the set is in my opinion, offset by its ability to me placed on a single bar and the fact that you have 100% control of when it activates.
    • If I were to replace this set, I would likely choose Armor of Truth and run the melee variant of this build, or drop the Master Bow and use New Moon Acolyte or Ancient Dragonguard-
  • Bone Pirate’s Tatters: The bread and butter of our stamina sustain, this set allows us to get away with running three infused weapon damage glyphs on our jewelry.
    • If I were to replace this set, I’d likely choose any number of damage sets, and replace a weapon damage glyph with a stamina recovery glyph-
  • Caustic Arrow: With the right set layout, this Arena set is free damage, just make sure to keep that poison injection up.
    • This is an entirely optional addition to the build, if you would prefer to have both of your five pieces active on both bars, feel free to drop it-
  • Blood Spawn: Bloodspawn is a fantastic set for any class, and Necromancer is no exception, the additional resistances are amazing, and the ultimate generation allows to reach your expensive ultimates significantly faster than most others.
    • -Necromancer is a class that has little reliance on any particular setup, allowing almost any Monster set to be effective on the build, my personal runner ups to Bloodspawn would be Troll King or Thurvokun (for the melee variation)-

Vampire vs. Mortal

Vampirism: I personally don’t feel this is worth it for this build, but a case could definitely be made if you want to use either Elusive Mist or Devouring Swarm, so go with this if either of those abilities intrigue you.

Lycanthropy: I absolutely recommend this curse, primarily because of the bonus stamina recovery it provides while on your back bar, and because unlike Vampirism, there are no negative effects unless you actually use the form.  The form itself is very powerful when used properly (mainly inside of 1v1’s), make sure to buff completely and activate Blastbones + Poison Injection immediately before activating the ultimate (preferably right on top of the enemy for the guaranteed stun).

Other Important Info

Buff Food

Dubious Camoran Throne: The go-to drink of stamina characters, Dubious gives health, stamina, and stamina recovery.

Lava Foot Soup and Sultrice: Less traditional than Dubious, Lava Foot is my choice of food should you decide to drop Bone Pirate’s Tatters.  It provides a massive boost to max stamina and stamina recovery at the cost of not providing you with max health (compensate with health glyphs, armor sets with health lines, or changing your attribute distribution to make up some of the difference).

Mundus

The Warrior: Increased Weapon Damage

(For non-CP) The Serpent – Increased Stamina Recovery

Race

Nord: (The Tanky Option)
My go to for stamina at the moment, Nord is by far the most stat efficient way to increase your resistance without running defensive sets, the ultimate generation is much appreciated, and the increase to health allows me to try things like Lava Foot easily..

Orc: (The Damage Option)
Orc reigns supreme when it comes to speed and damage amongst the brawler playstyle, boasting increased health, stamina, weapon damage, sprint speed, and a little bonus healing for dealing damage. If you don’t mind having a little less resistance compared to Nord, Orc will definitely maximize your potential damage.

Imperial: (The Sustain Option)
Boasting the highest health and stamina pool of any race, Imperial is the best suited race to try Lava Foot builds with, to top it off, Imperial possesses a much appreciated sustain buff that Necromancer could really use.

Potions

  • Essence of Weapon Crit: Restore Stamina, Restore Health, Major Savagery (Dragonthorn, Mountain Flower, and Hater Hyacinth)
  • Tri-Stat Potion: Restore Health, Mana, and Stamina (Columbine, Bugloss, and Mountain Flower)

Passives

Class (all), Medium Armor (all), Heavy Armor (all except the ones that require to wear 5 pieces), 2Hander (all), Bow (all), Undaunted (all), Raciel (all), Alchemy (Medicinal Use), Assault (all), Support (all except the first)

Resource Management, Rotation & Tips

 1)  Maintain your Spirit Guardian/Mender at all times, this not only gives you a powerful heal, but it also keeps your recovery significantly higher thanks to your passives.

2)  Blastbones behaves in a similar fashion to Nightblade’s Merciless Resolve or the Warden’s Shalks, it is your primary burst tool and all of your combos will revolve around landing it, so keep casting it as often as possible to maximize your burst opportunities.

3) Play to your strengths, Necromancer is durable but slow, you don’t have to worry much about taking damage, just make sure you are dishing out burst combos effectively while rotating heals to burn your opponent’s resources if you aren’t able to kill them quickly.

4) When outnumbered, focus on sustain and survival, your main goal is to hold on until your ultimate is ready and you are able to flip the tide of battle.
