Introduction

Welcome to DottzGaming.com’s Solo Magicka Templar Build PvE, the Cleric, for the Elder Scrolls Online! This build is intended for playing solo PvE content, such as questing, public dungeons, Maelstrom Arena, etc.! This build is focused around playing as a true champion of the light, pumping out tons of AoE and single target damage using the Templar’s strong class skills and augmenting it with flame damage from the destruction staff skill line. While this build is pumping out really high damage, we are also healing ourselves for a huge portion of that damage dealt. When you combine our monster set with the insane healing power that the magicka templar has, we become a pure juggernaut. My goal with this MagPlar build was to create a magicka templar build that could play solo effectively, but had strong thematic ties, so you will be causing your enemies to kneel before the light with this themed solo PvE build!

Gear Set Explanation

Ring of the Pale Order: This set is the strongest mythic for solo PvE. We get passively healed as we deal damage, and none of the drawbacks of this set apply to use since this is a solo PvE build!

Valkyn Skoria: Since we are wearing a mythic, we have 1 open gear slot. Valkyn Skoria fits this well by giving us extra penetration, allowing us to get through more of our enemies’ defenses.

Law of Julianos: One of the most solid sets in the game, Julianos is incredibly strong for how easy it is to acquire. This crafted set is a staple for magicka damage dealers, and there is a reason you always see it recommended for newer players! The bonuses to magicka, critical, and the big boost to spell damage on the 5 piece just make it a very well rounded set to use for PvE!

Mother’s Sorrow: This set works perfectly for magicka templar, allowing us to to gain a ton of additional damage via critical strikes, allowing us to take full advantage of the Piercing Spear passive. Combined with the Precise trait on our front bar and Major Prophecy from our skills, this allows us to have an insanely high crit rate, allowing us to take full advantage of the Shadow mundus as well!

Crushing Wall: The Maelstrom staff is the best staff to have on your back bar, giving us a big boost to our light and heavy attack damage to enemies in our Elemental Blockade. If you do not have this set, just use another Julianos staff on the back bar!

Front Bar – Destruction Staff: Puncturing Sweep, Inner Light, Elemental Drain, Purifying Light, Harness Magicka, Shooting Star

Back Bar – Destruction Staff: Degeneration, Unstable Wall of Elements, Solar Barrage, Extended Ritual, Channeled Focus, Crescent Sweep

Vampire vs. Werewolf vs. Mortal

For this build we are playing as a Mortal. This build doesn’t need anything that the vampire skill line gives us, and werewolf provides no benefit to magicka builds.

Champion Points

The list below showcases the order in which champion points should be acquired, the number of points you need to place into that perk and whether or not it needs to be slotted in the CP bar. The Warfare CP perks increase your damage and mitigation and are the most important, the Fitness tree has some miscellaneous sustain and defensive perks and the Craft tree has crafting and non-combat bonuses. The Craft CP points are entirely customizable to however you want, or you can follow the list below.

  • As a High Elf: Witchmother’s Potent Brew – Maximum Health, Magicka and Magicka Recovery

Mundus

The Thief – Increased Critical Damage

Race

  1. Breton (tankiest option & best sustain, my personal recommendation)
  2. High Elf (highest damage)

Potions

Up to you! This build has Major Sorcery and Major Prophecy in the skills, so you just need to make sure to get Major Intellect from your potions; so just feel free to just use regular restore magicka potions!

Passives

Class (all), Light Armor (All), Medium Armor (all), Heavy Armor (all), Destruction Staff (all), Undaunted (all), Racial (all), Mage’s Guild (all), Alchemy (Medicinal Use)

Resource Management & Rotation

  • Maintain Degeneration, Unstable Wall of Elements, Solar Barrage, Channeled Focus & Elemental Drain at all times to maintain the build’s maximum offensive/defensive potential.
  • Maintain Purifying Light on your primary target to maximize your burst. When you apply Purifying Light, use your Shooting Star and go into Puncturing Sweep spam. With your high crit chance, your PL will most likely crit and you’ll deal a huge burst of damage to finish off your enemy!
  • If you know a boss/mob is going to deal a big amount of damage, use Harness Magicka to defend yourself. You can also use Extended Ritual if you feel you’re taking a lot of DoT pressure and need to relieve it.
  • Standing on your Channeled Focus’s rune will maximize your healing.
  • Use Crescent Sweep if you need some big AoE damage in a pinch (since the ult cost is so cheap)! When you’re fighting a boss or a tougher opponent however, Shooting Star will be your primary ultimate.
