Introduction

Welcome to DottzGaming.com’s Magicka Warden PVP build, Magicka Mastery, for the Elder Scrolls Online! Know that feel when you have to make the trade-off between damage, regen and tankiness? Not with this build! The concept of this build is to stack your max magicka as high as possible, making both your damage and tankiness incredible (via shields that reach 10k value in Cyrodiil EACH!)– while keeping very solid regens and amazing mobility. If you want to take the warden class to the edge, and be able to 1v1, 1vX and play in a group with a very solid all rounded build – this is the build for you!

Keep in mind that PvP builds are very personal. This is what worked for ME. If you don’t like something about it, change it to fit your playstyle.

Gear Explanation

Balorgh: This set fits the build perfectly since we use the permafrost ultimate to deal a massive amount of damage to multiple opponents, and since it’s a high costing ultimate ability, balorgh makes it that much stronger when we use it. If you dont like Iceheart, you have many other alternative monster set options including:

  • Blood Spawn
  • Valkyn Skoria
  • Grothdarr

Necropotence:The strongest set in the game for max magicka stacking. Since we have our betty netch skill to constantly keep the 5th piece bonus active, this set fits our build perfectly and allows us to have 100% uptime of a lot more max magicka, which will give us more damage and stronger shields.

Master Staff: This single weapon allows our shock clench, which is our spammable skill with this build, be incredibly more powerful. It buffs both it’s initial hit damage, and the damage over time the skill applies to targets, making it a wonderful set to use on this build.

Crafy Alfiq:  Just like the Necropotence set, this one also helps us stack our magicka up high. It is almost as effective as Necropotence itself, with slightly lower value and no condition of having your pet up. We have 3 pieces of this set on our front bar to help damage while keeping the master staff as our weapon, and 5 pieces on the back bar, to make our shields even larger!

Attributes

All points into Magicka.

Skills

Main Bar – Destruction Staff: Fetcher Infection / Deep Fissure / Bird of Prey / Destructive Clench / Shimmering Shield / Northern Storm

Back Bar – 1h and Shield: Harness Magicka / Blue Betty / Living Trellis / Elusive Mist / Ice Fortress / Northern Storm (On both bar for the 4% magicka)

Vampire vs. Mortal

We play as a vampire in this build, despite its weaknesses, simply to be able to use the Mistform skill. That skill allows us to go through choke points and take a lot of pressure while keeping mobile and speedy, and taking very little damage. When we use our shield before going into Mistform, we are able to take nearly no damage to our actual health pool even while facing many enemies, since we have a 75% damage reduction from mist, and the 25% damage we take all go to the 10k strong shield we have!

If you don’t like playing as a vampire, I would change Mistform to Race Against Time from the Psijic skill line to be able to keep your mobility high!

Other Important Info

Buff Food

Longfin Pasty with Melon Sauce (Max Health, Magicka and Stamina)

Mundus

Mage: Increased Max Magicka

Race

1: Breton: This is my favorite race for this build. Since you cast your shield a lot for both survivability and sustain, having the cost reduction and max mag from the passives is amazing, and the extra spell resistance is great to have as well.

2: Dark Elf: This race, while still gives you the very needed extra max magicka, also gives you max stamina and more spell damage. It will be slightly more difficult to sustain with this race, but your damage will surely be higher and your stamina management will be a lot easier too.

Potions

Tri-Stat (Bugloss, Columbine and Mountain Flower)

Passives

  • Animal Companions: All
  • Winters Embrace: All
  • Green balance: All
  • Light Armor: All
  • Heavy Armor: All that don’t require 5 pieces worn.
  • Medium Armor: All that don’t require 5 pieces worn.

  • One Hand and Shield: All
  • Undaunted: All
  • Mages Guild: All
  • Assault: All
  • Support: Combat Medic, Battle Resurrection
  • Alchemy: Medicinal Use
  • Racial: All

Resource Management & Rotation

Offensive rotation: For your offense, you want to try and keep Fetcher Infection – your main Damage Over Time ability on your target/s as much as possible. Then, your rotation will be shalk into a light attack into a shock clench and try to have those three hit one target at the same time. The amount of damage from this rotation is usually quite meaningful, and if you managed to land all three hits on the opponent at once, usually that will force them to go defensive and heal themselves, allowing you to perform another offensive rotation without interference. If your opponent feels too tanky, or you are facing multiple targets, use your ultimate ability Permafrost, and it will buff your damage and defenses significantly. Since both Perma and Shalks are AoE abilities, you are able to hit multiple targets at once with a very strong burst.

Defensive Rotation: You always want to try and keep Living Trellis active on you , to gain heals over time as you take damage. Whenever you are being pressured, go to your back bar, and keep using Harness Magicka while your Trellis are up. As your shield takes more and more damage, your health with start rising, allowing you to keep restoring health and magicka both (due to Harness’es special ability of restoring back magicka when hit) and not risk dying. If you are facing multiple opponents and are taking too much damage, try using shield then mistform into a safe area, being able to go through roots and snares as your shield takes the damage for you, and mistform mitigates most of the incoming damage.

As with all builds, offensive and defensive power will be maximized if you maintain your buffs on yourself and debuffs on your opponent(s).
