Main Bar – Fire Staff:  Force Pulse, Screaming Cliff Racer, Deep Fissure, Harness Magicka, Inner Light, Soul Assault

Back Bar – Restoration Staff:  Healing Ward, Living Trellis, Bird of Prey, Ice Fortress, Blue Betty, Permafrost

Vampire vs. Mortal

While not necessary, I would highly recommend vampire for all magicka PVP players. The undeath passive (33% damage reduction while under 50% health) and 15% mag/stam recovery are huge boons, especially in recent patches where resource management is key.

Other Important Info

Buff Food

Witchmother’s Potent Brew (Max Health, Magicka, and Magicka Recovery)

Mundus

Mage – Increased Maximum Magicka

Race

1: Dunmer: Mathematically the best race for this build. The flame resist helps as a vampire and the max stamina and magicka add to already large resource pools from Shacklebreaker.

2: High Elf: I currently run a high elf. Magicka recovery is a focus on this build as your abilities are fairly costly. Also, the damage increase to all elements makes a noticeable difference in your burst.

3: Argonian: Obviously the master-race of PVP, the potions passive (almost 5K to all resources in addition to whatever resource is returned from potion) makes Argonians a really strong choice. The increased healing and healing received, combined with the increased health, will make you significantly more “tanky” in pvp, at the expense of some damage. I would strongly recommend Argonian to anyone new to the class, or not comfortable with sustain in PVP

Potions

Any magicka potion will do. No need for anything fancy as you get your major prophecy/intellect/sorcerery and minor berserk from your skills.

Argonians should run exclusively tri-stat potions: 6066 health/mag/stam + Argonian potions passive = near 11K to ALL resources when you consume a tri-stat.

Passives

  • Animal Companions: All
  • Winters Embrace: All
  • Green balance: All
  • Light Armor: All
  • Heavy Armor: Resolve, Constitution, Juggernaut
  • Medium Armor: Wind Walker
  • Undaunted: All
  • Mages Guild: All
  • Assault: All
  • Support: Combat Medic, Battle Resurrection
  • Alchemy: Medicinal Use
  • Racial: All

Resource Management & Rotation

Offensive rotation: is a burst combo of Deep Fissure – Light Attack – Screaming Cliff Racer – Medium Attack – Force Pulse. When done correctly, the fissure, cliff racer, medium attack, and force pulse should hit the target at the same time.

Ultimate Rotation: Is a bit trickier to pull off, and you will have to specifically wait for the player to be off CC immunity so your deep fissure knocks down and gives you free unblocked soul assault for a time. Inner Light – Deep Fissure – Screaming Cliff Racer (CC) – Force Pulse – Soul Assault.

Defensive Rotation: The defensive rotation is very simple, and especially good against magicka users for the magicka return from harness magicka. Ice Fortress – Living trellis – Healing Ward – bar swap – Harness Magicka.  This is a simple and very effective survivability move. Ice fortress lasts 24 seconds and increases your resistances, living trellis gives you health every hit and a burst heal after 5 seconds, and harness magicka (huge shield given your large magicka pool) returns health on each hit, and when magicka damage hits, returns magicka to you. This is one of the few classes where getting hit is a huge bonus while wearing light armor. Due to the massive harness Magicka shield, only use Healing Ward when absolutely needed.

Tips & Misc.

Don’t let anyone tell you shalks are hard to land. Running Prismatic glyphs on the large pieces along with Shacklebreaker gives a high-elf near 17K stamina in purple gear. A pro tip, especially against talons-happy DKs (like Dottz) is to roll dodge two seconds after casting deep fissure, and while you are roll dodging you can turn your character to line up fissure for any direction, even what was once behind you.

Final tip: Buff management is very simple on this build except your Bird of Prey. Ice Fortress (resistances) and Blue Betty (major intellect) last 24 seconds. Bird of Prey (minor berserk) only lasts 10, so keep a mind on a 4second disconnect in buff management there. You want Bird up constantly while doing damage.
