Welcome to DottzGaming.com’s Magicka Warden PVP build, Exploden, for the Elder Scrolls Online!

Looking to take down entire groups with one massive burst? Want to be able to one shot players, deal AoE damage, and still have great survivability and healing power? Exploden is the build for you!

By timing many sources of damage to hit at once, this build aims to put massive pressure on your opponent, both single target and AoE, and pull an incredible burst while still having the ability to survive difficult fights and outheal the current dots meta.

Keep in mind that PvP builds are very personal. This is what worked for ME. If you don’t like something about it, change it to fit your playstyle.

Gear Explanation

Blood Spawn: This set is a great way to generate our ultimate and increase our resistances a huge amount at the same time. When you have several dots or players attacking you, the uptime on bloodspawn can easily reach 70-80% which makes it an extremely useful defensive set that allows you to use your ultimate to go either offensive or defensive a lot more frequently. If you don’t like Blood Spawn, you have many other alternative monster set options including:

  • Balorgh for damage
  • Pirate Skeletonfor tankiness at the cost of healing power
  • 1x Pirate + 1x Chudan for full uptime of pure resistances.

Necropotence: The strongest set in the game for max magicka stacking. Since we have our betty netch skill to constantly keep the 5th piece bonus active, this set fits our build perfectly and allows us to have 100% uptime of a lot more max magicka, which will give us more damage and stronger shields.

Grace of the Ancients: Just like the Necropotence set, this one also helps us stack our magicka up high. Given our base magicka is very high with our tristate food, attribute points and the necropotence set, the 4% max mag bonus that the 3rd piece bonus of this set gives really puts in some big value.

Master Staff: This single weapon allows our shock clench, which is our spammable skill with this build, be incredibly more powerful. Since shock clench is a massive AoE explosion that is not only our spammable but also a huge part of our full burst, this set is quite effective.

Blackrose Restoration Staff: This set enhances our healing abilities by quite a bit, by increasing our healing received by 30% when we use a healing ward.

Vampire vs. Mortal

We no longer play as a vampire with this build. Since the aggressive dot-oriented meta in open world PvP currently makes it quite difficult to survive while facing multiple opponents, vamprism – which makes us take increased damage from fire based abilities as well as fighters guild abilities (like magDK skills, flame clench and dawnbreakers) – causes us to take even more damage, and so I don’t recomment using it this patch.

If you really want to play as a vampire with this build, you certainly can. However, keep in mind you will be taking more damage this way and surviving could become harder.

Race

1: Breton: This is my favorite race for this build. Since you cast your shield a lot for both survivability and sustain, having the cost reduction and max mag from the passives is amazing, and the extra spell resistance is great to have as well.

2: Dark Elf: This race, while still gives you the very needed extra max magicka, also gives you max stamina and more spell damage. It will be slightly more difficult to sustain with this race, but your damage will surely be higher and your stamina management will be a lot easier too.

Resource Management & Rotation

Offensive rotation: For your offense, you want to try and have as many skills as possible hit your opponent at the exact same time, for maximal burst. Try to keep Fetcher Infection – your Damage Over Time ability on your target/s as much as possible. Then, your rotation will be Deep Fissure, charge up Elemental Weapon, then shoot a light attack (with the elemental weapon charge on it) at your opponent together with a shock clench and try to have those three hit one target at the same time.
The ideal goal is to have your oppenent hit by all of the following at the same time:

  • Deep Fissure
  • Shock Clench
  • Elemental Weapon
  • Light Attack
  • Enchantment (procs off the light attack)
  • Fetcher Infection tick
  • (Optional) Northeren Storm

The burst of this rotation, when timed right, is often enough to one shot your opponent, however if they are slightly tanky, have a good healing power, or blocked your burst, it will get their health low enough to force them to go defensive and allow you to time another burst right away. After a few rotations, you will be able to take the opponent down to 0 health.

Important note: When trying to take down an entire enemy group, its important to use your northern storm before the rotation. Since Northern Storm, Deep Fissure and Shock Clench are all AoE abilities, the majority of the damage of your burst will hit all the enemy targets rather than just the one you are targetting.

Defensive Rotation: You always want to try and keep the Living Trellis buff active on you, to gain heals over time as you take damage. Whenever you are being pressured, go to your back bar, and keep using Harness Magicka while your Trellis are up. As your shield takes more and more damage, your health with start rising, allowing you to keep restoring health and magicka both (due to Harness’es special ability of restoring back magicka when hit) and not risk dying.

If your health is really low, you want to try and use a healing ward and follow it up with another Harness Magicka. The healing ward will increase the healing you recive from your Trellis for every enemy attack by 30% and allow your health to be fully restored in no time.

As with all builds, offensive and defensive power will be maximized if you maintain your buffs on yourself and debuffs on your opponent(s).
