Welcome to’s Magicka Nightblade PvP Build, the Blood Mage, for the Elder Scrolls Online! This build is intended for all forms of PvP: Cyrodiil, battlegrounds, Imperial city, and dueling.  This build stayed the same for awhile in terms of its setup, but has been overhauled for Dragon Bones!

This build boasts a good bit of tankiness, giving you a lot of critical resistance and a high minor maim uptime on your opponents.  Even though it boasts tankiness, it does not lack in the damage department due to the high amount of spell penetration and extra spell damage from War Maiden.  With this build, you play heavily around your Assassin’s Will and Valkyn Skoria procs – with DoT damage to support it – and combo with Soul Harvest to finish off opponents.

Keep in mind that PvP builds are very personal.  This is what worked for ME. If you don’t like something about it, change it to fit your playstyle.

Vampire vs. Mortal

For Destro Magicka Nightblade PvP builds, the benefits of being a vampire outweigh the cons.  Being that destro magicka nightblade is much tankier than duel wield, it can afford the negatives that come along with being a vampire for the extra recovery and other passives that it brings to the table. Plus, Elusive Mist is a great tool for open world Cyrodiil!

Resource Management & Rotation

The following is basically a checklist of what you want to do when you play this build:

  • Maintain Merciless Resolve on yourself at all times
  • Re-apply Siphoning Attacks every time the effect ends
  • Maintain Weakness to Elements, Crippling Grasp, and Degeneration on your opponent
  • Make sure your shade is always active, as this is the skill you’re reliant on for mobility.
  • If possible, fight inside your Refreshing Path
  • Weave Swallow Soul and Light attacks to proc your Assassin’s Will
  • Use Soul Harvest when you feel you have an offensive opening, as it deals good damage, increases your outgoing damage on that target and reduces their incoming healing.

Tips & Misc.

Magblade has one of the highest skill floors in the game, so it’s going to take practice to be proficient, especially in 1vX situations. They’re strong 1v1 but take a lot of solid mechanics and game knowledge to fight multiple enemies. Destro/Resto deals a bit less damage than it’s Dual Wield counterpart, but is much easier, in my opinion, to learn and be effective at due to the fact that it is much tankier. This build is extremely solid and performs really well when played right, so just keep practicing with it and don’t get frustrated!  The more you practice with this build, the better results you’ll see, and each kill feels very satisfying!
