Introduction

Welcome to DottzGaming.com’s Magicka Dragon Knight DPS PvE Build, Incinerate, for the Elder Scrolls Online! This build is intended for all levels of content: normal and veteran trials, normal and veteran dungeons, and general PvE!  This build has extremely strong Single Target and AoE pressure with the abilities we have at our disposal, but we do need to be in melee range to reach maximum potential in terms of damage. With the changes to Off-Balance, we changed Flame Lash to Molten Whip, and now we see higher damage on our Ardent Flame abilities (both AoE and single target) but a drop in our ability to sustain (requiring a change in buff-food).

NOTE: If you do not have Moodancer or the Maelstrom Flame staff, simply use Willpower in place of Moondancer (and two random staves) until you can get those.  Also, if you want to run a shock staff on the back bar instead of a flame staff to allow for heavy attacks during trash fights, run the Maelstrom Lightning Staff on the back bar and change the front bar enchant to a shock enchant.

Attributes

All points into Magicka.

Main Bar – Fire Staff: Molten Whip, Burning Embers, Re-arming Trap, Engulfing Flames, Inner Light, Elemental Rage

Back Bar – Fire/Shock Staff: Eruption, Molten Armaments or Inner Light, Elemental Blockade, Flames of Oblivion, Harness Magicka, Standard of Might

NOTE: Molten Whip vs. Flame Lash is personal preference. I know people who use and find success with both. I personally think Molten Whip would be better, but I use Flame Lash since I use it for my PvP build.  Also, if someone in your group is supplying Major Sorcery or you get it from potions, you should replace Molten Armaments with  Inner Light for more damage.

Vampire vs. Werewolf vs. Mortal

You are playing a vampire for this build.  I feel that when playing a magicka dragon knight in PvE, at least from my experiences, the benefits from having vampirism outweigh the negatives.  It isn’t mandatory, but I use it.

Resource Management & Rotation

Activate Flames of Oblivion and Molten Armaments before you engage.

Rearming Trap > Weapon Swap > Eruption > Light Attack > Elemental Blockade > Weapon Swap > Engulfing Flames > Light Attack > Burning Embers > (Molten Whip > Light Attack) x 4 > Rearming Trap > Weapon Swap > Flames of Oblivion > Light Attack > Elemental Blockade > Weapon Swap > Engulfing Flames > Light Attack > Burning Embers > Heavy Attack > (Molten Whip > Light Attack) x 2 > Repeat Rotation.

– Reapply Molten Armaments whenever it is about to run out.
– If you are running low on resources, replace 2 Molten Whip > Light Attack’s with a heavy attack.
– Harness Magicka is used to shield yourself from big incoming damage.
– Reapply Burning Embers early if you need a heal in a pinch.
– For trash fights:  if you’re using a Shock staff, use Engulfing flames, your back bar DoTs and spam heavy attacks
– Use Elemental Rage as your ult in big AoE fights. Otherwise, use Standard of Might.

Veteran Maelstrom Arena

Magicka Dragon Knight is one of the harder classes to do vMA on, so if you struggle with it on your DK do not get discouraged. The instance is challenging enough, and playing a MagDK isn’t doing you any favors in the instance. That being said, it absolutely can be done, and this is the setup I used to complete it.

Gear wise, it’s almost the exact same as the “Magicka Dragon Knight PvE Build – Final” setup, except instead of Moondancer I use Seducer for the extra magicka recovery and use a Powered restoration staff on the back bar.
